Beef Bone Broth Recipe with Turmeric

Bone broth is full of glycine to decrease inflammation in your gut and improve the tissues that line your gut. Bone broth contains gut healing gelatin. Ingredients:

  •  2-3kg beef bones – knucklebones, neck bones, marrow bones, oxtails, osso bucco – ‘bone with a hole’ (containing marrow)
  • 1 Tbsn 3xR CURCUMIN (Turmeric) SUPER BLEND POWDER
  • 1 yellow onion, quartered
  • 1 head of garlic, cut in half
  • 2 carrots, cut into pieces
  • 2 celery ribs, cut into pieces
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 8 cups water
  • 2 tsp. grated ginger
  • 2 Tbsp. lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp. salt (add to taste)
  • 2 Tbsp apple cider vinegar (this helps leach the minerals out of the bones)

Instructions:

  • Put the beef bones on a sheet pan and brown them under the grill before adding them to the slow cooker.
  • Cook for 12 hours on the low setting in a slow cooker or longer if desired. You can also use a pressure cooker for at least 3-4 hours – this may mean restarting the pressure cooker a few times.
  • Strain the broth then add:
    • 2 tsp. grated ginger
    • 2 Tbsp. lemon juice
    • 1/2 tsp. salt (add to taste)
  • It’s ready to serve, refrigerate or freeze for another day.

Can I freeze bone broth?

  • Yes, place into plastic or glass containers.
  • Leave a couple of cm of room at the top to allow for expansion.
  • Freeze for up to 6 months.
  • Thaw in the fridge 24 hours before needed. Reheat in the microwave or on the stove-top
