Turmeric Beef Bone Broth cooked in a slow cooker

Ingredients:
- 2-3kg beef bones – knucklebones, neck bones, marrow bones, oxtails, osso bucco – ‘bone with a hole’ (containing marrow)
- 1 Tbsn 3xR CURCUMIN (Turmeric) SUPER BLEND POWDER
- 1 yellow onion, quartered
- 1 head of garlic, cut in half
- 2 carrots, cut into pieces
- 2 celery ribs, cut into pieces
- 2 bay leaves
- 8 cups water
- 2 tsp. grated ginger
- 2 Tbsp. lemon juice
- 1/2 tsp. salt (add to taste)
- 2 Tbsp apple cider vinegar (this helps leach the minerals out of the bones)
Instructions:
- Put the beef bones on a sheet pan and brown them under the grill before adding them to the slow cooker.
- Cook for 12 hours on the low setting in a slow cooker or longer if desired. You can also use a pressure cooker for at least 3-4 hours – this may mean restarting the pressure cooker a few times.
- Strain the broth then add:
- 2 tsp. grated ginger
- 2 Tbsp. lemon juice
- 1/2 tsp. salt (add to taste)
- It’s ready to serve, refrigerate or freeze for another day.
Can I freeze bone broth?
- Yes, place into plastic or glass containers.
- Leave a couple of cm of room at the top to allow for expansion.
- Freeze for up to 6 months.
- Thaw in the fridge 24 hours before needed. Reheat in the microwave or on the stove-top
